Last Friday, Tuttosport explained Newcastle United have been closely monitoring Teun Koopmeiners on a couple of occasions this season as their scouts have been spotted in attendance at Atalanta matches.

It was also said Newcastle have identified the midfielder as a target to replace suspended Sandro Tonali.

Tutto Atalanta have a report on Inter Milan’s desire to sign the 25-year-old.

The Netherlands international was on the pitch for 80 minutes during his side’s 2-1 defeat to the Nerazzurri at the weekend. His display pleased Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta and their sporting director, Piero Ausilio.

It’s claimed both Marotta and Ausilio believe Koopmeiners’ profile would be a perfect fit at the San Siro, and his addition could also bolster their midfield.

It won’t be easy for Inter to secure his services as Juventus and Napoli are attentive to the Dutchman. In addition to this, he has also attracted interest from England, where Newcastle are one of the clubs in the picture to sign him.

With several interested parties, it’s a ‘dance of millions’ that could be started with a potential auction for Koopmeiners.

Tutto Atalanta, who present their article as an exclusive, add that any club keen to sign him will have to be ready to spend over €70m. Newcastle seem to have better financial resources than the Serie A trio to carry out an operation.
