Rumours from the English media claiming Manchester United are planning a loan swap with Flamengo made huge noise in the Brazilian press.

It’d be quite surprising to see the Red Devils giving away Antony to land Gabriel Barbosa, and that’s what many outlets have been saying.

Journalist Jorge Nicola, who’s usually good with information on Brazilian transfers, comes up to say he found the story ‘absolutely weird’.

The arguments are the obvious ones, as Gabriel Barbosa is older and worth much less than Antony, and it would be strange for Manchester United to try that kind of operation.

Nicola claims to have contacted Junior Pedroso, who represents both players, but hasn’t had a response yet. There should soon be another video once the answer arrives.

The journalist tells Flamengo fans not to buy the story for now, as the rumour ‘doesn’t make much sense’, although it’d be a great deal for the Brazilian club.

Even though the news got big coverage in Brazil, we’re still to see someone reliable confirming it. O Globo have been credited with reporting it, but all they did was quote The Mirror.
