Manchester City youngster Tommy Doyle has been labelled as ‘sensational’, despite not featuring for loan club Hamburger SV yet.

Doyle is highly rated at the Etihad but is yet to breakthrough into the first-team picture under Pep Guardiola, with just seven appearances and 290 minutes of football to his name so far.

It’s that situation which has led to him joining Hamburger on loan this season as he looks for the regular first-team football that isn’t on offer at Manchester City.

He’s yet to feature for the German second division side, though, despite having joined at the end of June.

That has probably led to some fears back in Manchester, given the whole point of him being sent out on loan was to play regularly and develop.

It seems there is nothing to worry about, though, with coach Tim Walter revealing his impressions of the Manchester City loanee in an interview with Hamburger Morgenpost.

“His feet are sensational,” the newspaper quote him saying.

“Tommy is in the observation role and tries to implement things in training.

“New country, new language – all that is not easy for him. He will need another week or two to settle in.”
