Barcelona’s financial situation ‘could force’ them to sell Raphinha in the coming months, with Tottenham eyeing up a potential move.
That’s according to AS, who say Tottenham ‘have not forgotten’ the winger’s performances at Leeds United and remain keen on him.
The newspaper explains that the club are facing something of an awkward situation with Raphinha, who currently doesn’t have a starring role in Xavi’s plans.
The current thought is that he could end up playing inside after Gavi’s unfortunate injury as the club and their manager look to find a way to make the Brazilian fit in, especially given the money spent on him.
They are ‘busy and worried’ because of that fact he is the most expensive signing of the Xavi era and, after a solid first season, he’s been going cold this year.
The former Leeds star has not been helped by the fact Lamine Yamal has exploded onto the scene this season and Ferran Torres is in a good run of form and proving himself.
A sale could be on the cards, then, and the Premier League are ‘very closely following’ the situation. Tottenham are the latest team to be linked as they have ‘not forgotten his great performance’ at Leeds.
At this moment in time Barcelona are not interested in a sale but the club’s financial needs ‘could force a sudden change’ of planning at the Camp Nou.
That would therefore open the door for Tottenham to potentially get their man, with the matter now in the hands of Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director and Raphinha’s former agent.
