As reported in the past couple of weeks, a few clubs are interested in signing Marcelo Bielsa as their manager. The Argentine boss has been unemployed since his departure from Lille in December, and could start the season in a fresh job.

Leeds United and Sporting CP have both been pointed out as possible destinations for El Loco. Actually the Championship side showed up first, and with Jorge Jesus’ resignation from the Lions, Bielsa and Luis Felipe Scolari were reported as options for the Lisbon side.

Now it turns out that Sporting have lost one of these alternatives, as they’ve made an offer for Scolari, which was turned down by the Brazilian.

Via his press office, the former Brazil and Chelsea manager said: “I was contacted by a person representing the Sporting for a possible negotiation. I thanked him, but at this point I cannot accept the invitation.” (Record)

That leaves Sporting in the hunt for a new manager again, and that could force them to battle with Leeds in the chase for Bielsa.

Now we’re not sure if we finish this article with ‘who would offer Bielsa a better job?’, or ‘which club will El Loco choose?’ Because we just can’t expect reason from the Argentine boss.
