Back in January, when Eric Dier left Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich, there was quite some uncertainty about his chances to succeed with the Bundesliga giants.

The defender had barely been playing at Spurs, and it seemed like settling in at the German club would be a big challenge for him.

It turns out that Dier is doing just fine, with 15 appearances for Bayern since then, and Fussball Transfers now comes with some very interesting quotes from the man giving him trust.

As Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel today held a press conference, he highlighted how signing the 30-year-old from Tottenham was a smart move.

“I’m very happy with him. He completely exceeded expectations, made the best of his situation and has been an extremely important piece of the puzzle for us ever since,” said Tuchel.

“He helps the man next to him, he has a good character and is of course a top player.”

Fussball Transfers writes that even though the player was signed from Tottenham as an ’emergency solution’, he ended up being a ‘direct hit’.

Dier’s spell at Bayern was initially set to run until the end of the season, but the German club have already confirmed that he’s now joined on a permanent move, with a contract until the summer of 2025.

The player has done very well for himself indeed. And after jokes about Bayern signing him just to be Harry Kane’s friend, even Tottenham may be kicking themselves that they let a good squad player leave relatively cheaply.
