‘The chosen one’ – Signing Wolves player seen as ‘very good market option’, transfer said to be ‘imminent’

On Monday, we relayed news from Spain that Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Yerson Mosquera is set to complete a loan move to Villarreal this week.

Later that day, Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra stated Wolves had a meeting yesterday to finalise the centre-back’s exit.

Today’s El Periódico Mediterráneo states the 22-year-old is ‘the chosen one’ to bolster the La Liga side’s defence.

Villarreal CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles and director of football, Miguel Ángel Tena, are working on bringing in another centre-back, after adding Eric Bailly to their squad.

The focus is on the Colombia international, who spent his previous loan at MLS side FC Cincinnati. The Spanish club have already signed Gonçalo Guedes from Wolves and are now working to sign the defender on a loan deal.

It’s said the South American is seen as a ‘very good market option’, and his addition would provide Villarreal manager Marcelino García Toral with quality options in defence for the rest of this season.

The Yellow Submarine have made progress as the report states the official announcement of the Wolves player’s arrival is ‘imminent’.

Mosquera’s contract at Wolves lasts until 2026.
