Luis Enrique’s meeting with Chelsea today ‘went very well’ as he appears to take the lead in the Blues search for a new manager.

That’s according to El Partidazo de COPE, who say the Blues’ hierarchy have been left ‘delighted’ by what they’ve heard from the Spaniard.

They report that after Enrique travelled to London today for talks with Chelsea over replacing Graham Potter, there is a growing belief he could be set to take charge at Stamford Bridge.

He has never hidden his desire to manage in the Premier League and Chelsea sources confirm this came across in his meeting with the club, who were ‘delighted with the Asturian’ and the proposal for the team that he put forwards.

However, a decision on a move ‘may not be immediate’ as those in charge at Chelsea ‘continue to study’ and evaluate the managers available. Enrique is one of those, as is Julian Nagelsmann.

The former’s meeting with the club ended before 4pm this afternoon but club sources indicate there is a possibility that Bruno Saltor will be left in charge for Chelsea’s upcoming games as Todd Boehly and co deliberate.

The Spanish manager, for his part, sees the job as an ‘unmissable opportunity’ to get into the Premier League.

He believes he can have a positive effect on the squad that has been built at Chelsea and has seemingly presented his plan to those in charge.

Indeed, the idea of having a plan is ‘highly valued’ by Chelsea’s hierarchy, who believe winning the Champions League remains a possibility for them this season.
