Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares is set to return to the club from a loan spell at Marseille at the end of the season, with the French side unimpressed by what they’ve seen so far.

That’s according to RMC Sport journalist Florent Germain, relayed by Foot Sur 7, who says ‘there will be movement’ and the player will ‘leave the club’ at the end of this campaign.

Tavares has been on loan with Marseille since the summer when it was made clear he was not a part of Mikel Arteta’s plans at Arsenal this season.

He initially made a flying start at the club and has made 25 appearances for them in Ligue 1 so far this season.

However, his form tailed off after that fast start as he’s struggled to impress in recent months and it seems a decision has now been made as a result.

Florent Germain reports that he will be the ‘first official’ departure from Marseille in the summer after struggling to build on his good start.

His ‘lack of consistency’ and even his ‘attitude’ has even begun to annoy those in charge at the club and they don’t intend to sign him on a permanent basis from Arsenal as a result.

Instead, he will be sent back to the Emirates, where it remains to be seen if he will be given another chance to impress or is moved on this summer.
