Real Madrid have overtaken Manchester City in the race for Jude Bellingham, although they will not go to the €150m Borussia Dortmund want.

That’s according to BILD and Mundo Deportivo, who cover the player amid the constant speculation about his future.

The Dortmund star is expected to leave the German club in the summer and has been linked to pretty much every major club in Europe as a result.

Manchester City are one of those who have been named among his suitors and BILD confirm that is the case, stating that they are ‘hot’ for the rising England star.

According to their information, though, it is Real Madrid who are ‘currently ahead in the race’ for Bellingham’s signature after his father, Mark, travelled to Madrid at the end of February to meet those in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu.

There have been no official talks between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund at this stage and the latter will only let their star asset go for €150m.

According to Mundo Deportivo, though, they are ‘not willing to reach those figures’ and will not enter into an auction for Bellingham either.

The midfielder is their main objective for the summer transfer window, but they trust that the groundwork they have laid with Bellingham and their good relationship with Dortmund will be enough to get the transfer done.

Whether that is the case, particularly with Manchester City in the background and more than capable of paying Dortmund’s asking price, remains to be seen.
