Celtic are ‘very interested’ in German manager Daniel Farke as Ange Postecoglou’s replacement but could face competition from Leeds United for his signature.

That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says that ‘first talks took place’ this week over the manager potentially joining the Scottish giants.

Celtic are on the hunt for Postecoglou’s replacement after he left this week to join Tottenham, a big blow for the Scottish champions.

The Australian’s departure leaves a huge hole to be filled and several managers have already been named as potential successors at Celtic Park.

Farke is one of them as he’s available on a free after leaving Borussia Monchengladbach at the beginning of the month.

It seems that interest from Celtic is concrete and the Bhoys are ‘very interested’ in the 46-year-old, so much so that they’ve held initial talks about him taking over.

They could face competition from Leeds United, though. The Whites are also hunting for their next manager after Sam Allardyce’s four-game contract ended with relegation to the Championship.

Finding a suitable man for the job will be one of the priorities for new owners 49ers Enterprises after they reached an agreement to buy the club from Andrea Radrizzani.

Getting that over the line will take priority and it appears they are yet to move for Farke as a result, with any deal ‘not advanced yet’ according to Plettenburg.

However, Leeds’ interest is ‘confirmed’, and he says the situation around the manager ‘could change next week’ as a result.
