Playing just 18 minutes of Premier League football for Brentford since the start of the season, it was clear that Mads Bech Sorensen wasn’t a big part of Thomas Frank’s plans this season.

That’s why the news that he could be on his way to the south of France isn’t overly surprising, even if the destination might not be the most expected.

The news comes from RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins, who reveals the 23-year-old has ‘found an agreement’ with OGC Nice, who have already done a late bit of shopping in England over the course of the transfer window.

That will likely be due to them being owned by INEOS, as Joe Bryan joined them from Fulham on loan and they paid Leicester City just under £1m for Kasper Schmeichel.

Brentford’s Sorensen appears to be the latest on that list, as he is ‘very close to signing on loan’, despite him enjoying a late run in Frank’s plans at the end of the previous campaign, where he started in the final six games, including the 3-0 win against Southampton.

However, it appears the signing of Ben Mee from Burnley has just pushed him down the pecking order, meaning that a loan to Nice is what’s best for his career, despite his contract running until 2023.

That means there could be a mandatory option to buy in the loan or a potential contract renewal before the deal goes through.

We’ll have to wait and see.
