The Brazilian media claim Watford have made an offer for Palmeiras striker Miguel Borja.

Globo Esporte claims that the Hornets have made a late attempt to sign the player on deadline day, but couldn’t succeed.

Girona, Levante and Porto have all made formal offers as well, but all of them were rejected. Sampdoria were also interested, but didn’t make a bid. And from all the clubs interested, Watford were the only ones wanting a permanent deal.

Borja was signed by Palmeiras in a €10m deal at the start of the year, but has disappointed a lot at the club, scoring only seven goals in 32 appearances.

So for the Brazilian side to turn down Watford’s bid, the amount offered was probably pretty low. Borja has been saying he wants to work hard to find good form at the club, but Palmeiras surely wouldn’t miss the chance to recover that money.
