Barcelona are ‘opening doors’ for the departure of Abel Ruiz from the club, according to reports from the Catalan media.

Mundo Deportivo reports that both Barça and the striker are unhappy with the current situation he’s living at the club, and a move is in the plans of both parties.

After signing a contract extension last year, Ruiz was supposed to consolidate himself as an important player in the B squad, and look ahead to a future with the club’s first team.

But things haven’t worked out as planned, with other youngsters showing a better form and Ruiz failing to shine for Barcelona B.

Mundo Deportivo writes that Barça had the chance to loan him out in the summer, with several clubs being keen on his signing, especially Sporting, who were the most attractive option.

Given what’s happened since they’re now more convinced to let him go, either on a loan deal or on a permanent move with a buy-back clause.
