Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli has enjoyed regular game time in this calendar year and has had a good start to the 2022/23 campaign.

The forward’s form for the Gunners did not help him make it to the Brazil squad for last month’s international break. That has not had an impact on his performances for the north London club.

Operating on the left wing, the 21-year-old has managed four goals and two assists from nine league games for Arsenal.

The South American’s current deal runs until 2024. Four days ago, Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade stated that ‘conversations have started’ over his a contract.

According to AS, Martinelli’s renewal has become a ‘primary issue’ for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Arsenal have an option to further extend the star’s deal until 2025, but they are already thinking of ‘tying him up’ to a long-term contract at the Emirates.

Arteta is delighted with him, and the player is happy with his life at the English club. They consider Martinelli as a star for the present and future. Therefore, ‘everything indicates’ both parties will continue their association ‘for a while’, meaning beyond 2024.
