Argentine star Mauro Icardi was reportedly a transfer target for Arsenal during the summer transfer window.

Serie A side Napoli also showed interest in Icardi, after the departure of Gonzalo Higuain, but the striker ended up staying at Inter.

A couple of days ago Gazzetta dello Sport reported Inter want to insert a release clause of €110m in Icardi’s contract for foreign clubs, and that the player will sign a new contract until 2021, which will see him earning €4.5m/season.

According to another Italian daily TuttoSport, it’s almost certain Icardi will sign a contract with a €110m in the ‘coming days’.

However, TuttoSport reckon his wages will be €5m per season until 2021.

Napoli reportedly offered €70m for Icardi during the transfer window, but Inter were reluctant to sell him.

It seems Inter believe they could get more money if Icardi decided to leave the club in the future, but Arsenal are unlikely to consider a €110m offer for the Argentine.
