It now appears he could be signing a new contract at the Serie A club. However, Inter are keen on inserting a release clause in his contract with strong interest from several clubs.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday, Inter want to insert a release clause of €110m in Icardi’s contract for foreign clubs.

Inter in the coming weeks will try to renew Icardi’s contract until 2021, which will see him earning €4.5m/season.

The 23-year-old has been quite influential at the Serie A club, and it’s not surprising to see them securing his future at the club.

Icardi’s current deal expires in 2019, and it’d be interesting to see if they can convince him to sign a new contract with such a huge release clause.

Arsenal interest was always a surprise, given the player’s shaky reputation, and a fee of €110m would surely be laughed at.
