There were reports during the summer transfer window that Everton wanted to sign Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly to replace John Stones, and those rumours were recently covered by Everton owner Farhad Moshiri.

Moshiri claimed the Merseyside club were keen on him, but Napoli wanted £60m for the Senegalese defender.

Koulibaly’s agent Bruno Satin has been speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss (via Tutto Mercato Web), and was asked about Moshiri’s comments in the media.

Satin insists the transfer fee mentioned is ‘absurd’, and that’s because Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, had declared him ‘non-transferable’.

He said: “Everton? We knew of interest from Everton, but if there is something to say ask De Laurentiis. These figures of 50-60-70 million are absurd, in part because the president said he is non-transferable.”

After confirming Everton’s interest, Satin claims ‘every player has a right price’, but the 25-year-old is already at an important club and playing in the Champions League.

He added: “Each player has a price, right in front of an offer any club can bend. But on Kalidou there was also a sports talk and you cannot bring a player from another club when he’s already in an important club, playing in the Champions League.

“Here he is fine, the people love him. He was agitated in the summer, but is slowly coming back to his best level.”

It remains to be seen if Everton would revive their interest in Koulibaly, but we’re quite sure they wouldn’t want to spend such a huge fee on the Napoli defender, who hasn’t had a great start to the season.

Everton’s summer shopping list next year will also very much depend on where they finish in the table, given the difficulty of attracting top players.
