Yesterday, Germany’s SportBild reported Tottenham’s interest in Schalke’s Max Meyer.

The German international also confirmed he knew there had been interest to sign him, but insisted Schalke were reluctant to sell him and he likes playing for the Bundesliga outfit.

The 21-year-old is highly regarded in Germany, and interest from top European clubs isn’t really surprising, despite a slow start to the season.

According to French website Le 10 Sport, Liverpool could also be keen on signing the German star.

Le 10 Sport say Jurgen Klopp knows Meyer very well since his time in Germany at Borussia Dortmund, and has been willing to do anything to convince him to sign for Liverpool.

Liverpool and Tottenham, however, could face competition from Barcelona, who are also allegedly keen on the German.

Meyer has a contract until 2018 at the Bundesliga club, and a decision on his future is expected soon. There certainly will be no shortage of interest if he decides against renewing his contract, but that remains to be seen.
