Leeds United’s interest in Cagliari’s Nahitan Nandez resurfaced in Italy earlier this month.
Inter Milan are also credited with an interest in the midfielder, but Hakan Çalhanoğlu’s arrival at the San Siro has reportedly put pressure on their finances, making it difficult to sign Nandez.
On Thursday, we carried a report from La Nuova Sardegna, who explained the 25-year-old’s exit from the Serie A side this summer seems ‘almost inevitable’.
This report came days after the Uruguay international’s agent, Pablo Bentancur, said there’s a real possibility the player could seal a switch to Elland Road.
Bentancur has given another interview, this time to Italy’s TuttoMercatoWeb, and the agent stressed his client is likely to leave the Serie A side in the summer window.
“It is very likely that Nandez will leave Cagliari. He is ready for a big one. We have had many contacts. The market, however, is a bit slow due to Covid. In England someone asked for information, as well as in Italy. We are working,” Bentancur said.
Even though Bentancur has not categorically mentioned Marcelo Bielsa’s side, the agent confirming about the approach from England could hint at the Whites.
Nandez managed two goals and three assists in 32 Serie A appearances last season for Cagliari.
