Wahey! We have ourselves a Karim Benzema to Arsenal rumour.
El Confidencial report that Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund are both ‘knocking’ on the door of the Frenchman, keen to sign the striker should he leave Real Madrid.
Arsene Wenger is said to have made ‘several attempts’ to get Benzema to Arsenal, and the player’s agent is well aware of the interest.
As yet there’s no ‘firm offers’ on the table for the player, and he’s going through his worst season as a Real Madrid player.
Five La Liga goals so far is a woeful return for a top striker in such a team. As a club, Real Madrid would consider a sale, but El Confidencial say Benzema is being saved by Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Zidane has always been one of Benzema’s biggest fans, and Ronaldo is said to see him as crucial for his own success.
There’s every chance Florentino Perez could part ways with Zidane this summer and/or fall out with Ronaldo again, which could wobble Benzema’s situation somewhat.
But now at 30 years of age, perhaps Benzema’s Arsenal chance has gone, not that he’s ever seemed so bothered about that.
