Over the past few weeks, we’ve covered claims from Italy that Newcastle United are keen on signing Juventus’ Dean Huijsen, who’s currently on loan at AS Roma.
On April 9th, Gazzetta dello Sport reported the Magpies are pressing to sign the defender in the summer window.
Newcastle aren’t alone as Borussia Dortmund are also in the picture to sign the 19-year-old, according to Rai, relayed by il Bianconero.
The centre-back, who has made only one appearance for Juve’s first team, joined Roma on loan in January. He featured regularly for the Giallorossi and this has seen him draw attention from Eddie Howe’s side and BVB.
Huijsen’s contract at Juve lasts until 2028 and he’s valued at €30m by his parent club. It’s explained that Newcastle would ‘have no problem’ in paying the fee requested by the Old Lady to sign the defender.
Recent Italian reports have repeatedly stated that Juventus are prepared to sell a number of their young talents in the next window, in order to finance business elsewhere. That presents an opportunity for Premier League clubs, who attach more value to youth.
