On April 18th, Tuttosport stated Arsenal’s Jorginho, or his entourage, had called Juventus technical director Cristiano Giuntoli to arrange a transfer in the summer window.
This is echoed by Calciomercato, who state the 32-year-old ‘calls Juventus’ over a possible move.
The midfielder’s contract lasts until June and Arsenal have an option to extend it for another year, which they haven’t exercised yet.
Earlier this month, Jorginho’s agent said he’s open to signing an extension and is waiting for a call from the north London club. However, Calciomercato explain Mikel Arteta’s side don’t seem to be willing to retain him beyond this season.
Therefore, Giuntoli is keeping this track alive and is waiting to see if there will be any new developments in this case.
The former Napoli star has one start in the last six league games and ‘wants more’ during the final phase of his career.
His priority is to return to Serie A and since he has an excellent relationship with Giuntoli, so the Juventus link is pushed further.
The Old Lady intend to wait for ‘another 15-20 days’, to find out whether the Gunners will extend the Italy international’s contract for another year. If not, Giuntoli will ask the next Juve manager [likely Thiago Motta] to make a decision on Jorginho.
The Arsenal player likes Juve and now ‘awaits news’ from them.
