There are claims in the Sardinian media that Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino is close to purchasing Brescia. Cellino has been linked with the Serie B side in recent weeks, although Brescia have denied they are in talks with the Leeds United chief.
The Sardinian claims come after the Brescia statement, and completely ignore the club’s public stance. It’s been claimed the Leeds United owner is close to getting his hands on Brescia, and that ‘white smoke’ may happen this week.
Cellino recently sold 50% of his Leeds United shares to Andrea Radrizzani, and this would enable him to buy a stake in Brescia. It’s still likely he would keep his shares in Leeds given the financial benefits of English football, especially if the club get promotion to the Premier League.
There’s even been speculation Leeds United’s young players could be loaned to Brescia to get first team experience if Cellino is successful in purchasing the club.
