Club set to let official join Watford – Move described as ‘certain’, clear route provided for deal

On November 7th, Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenburg stated Watford are in talks to appoint Ben Manga as their new director of football.

The Equatorial Guinean joined Eintracht Frankfurt as their chief scout in 2016 and was promoted to director of professional football in 2021. He is set to leave the German club for the Hornets.

That’s according to Sport1, who say Manga’s move to Watford is ‘certain’, even though he has not signed a contract with them. There should be clarity on this case in the coming days.

Although Manga has a deal until 2026, he and the Bundesliga side have finally agreed to terminate his contract after positive talks. Due to the work carried out by the 48-year-old at the club over the years, they ‘don’t want to put any obstacles’ in the way of him joining Watford.

The English club are playing in the Championship this campaign and are still a ‘highly attractive’ option for Manga. It is an attractive opportunity for the Eintracht Frankfurt chief as the move will offer him ‘great opportunity’ and ‘great power’.

Watford are currently fourth in the table this term and are fighting for promotion. It’s said that their owner, Gino Pozzo, sees an opportunity to achieve this ambitious project with Manga.
