Having bid €9m + bonuses for Angers’ Nicolas Pépé only to hear the club’s manager explain in a press conference the player would be staying at the club, Hull City clearly started looking at alternatives.

According to Przeglad Sportowy in Poland, one of those appears to be Rennes winger Kamil Grosicki, with Hull reportedly bidding €9m for the Ligue 1 winger.

Tomasz Wlodarczyk, who first reported the story, said both Hull and Rennes were in talks regarding a deal, and it seems the move has been given the go ahead after Grosicki was spotted at his local airport by numerous fans.

The 28-year-old famously saw a last minute move to Burnley collapse during last summer’s transfer deadline day, but it appears the winger will finally get his chance to join a Premier League side.

Following his failed transfer, the player remained an active part of Rennes’ first-team this season, making 18 appearances for the French side, scoring four goals and assisting his teammates on three different occasions in all competitions.
