Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has given an interview to ESPN Brasil ahead of the Premier League match against Liverpool tonight.

The Frenchman, who isn’t a player who really talks a lot, started by speaking about his departure from Leicester City right after lifting the Premier League trophy last season.

“After what we’ve done that season it was difficult to leave Leicester,” Kante told ESPN’s João Castelo Branco. “Because when you feel good in the club, you feel very confident with your teammates, it’s difficult to leave.”

But Kante claims he saw Chelsea as the next level he needed in his career: “The next step was to join a big club with big ambition. And to play for a club who want to win a lot of things. That’s what we try to with Chelsea, in the changing room there are a lot of champions, and everything we want to win, win every time”.

Questioned about tonight’s away game against Liverpool, the player said: “Anfield is a beautiful stadium, Liverpool is a good team, the next game is important for both teams and we hope we go there and get the three points.”

The reported mentioned that Chelsea could gain a great advantage if they beat their next two Premier League opponents, and Kante agrees with that: “Yeah, this week is very important because we play Liverpool and Arsenal, they are the closest teams to us, and if we manage well this week we can have a good gap.”
