Rangers are likely to win the race for Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville this summer if they have to battle HSV Hamburg for his signature.
That’s according to Frankfurter Rundschau, who cover the situation today and believe Giovani van Bronckhorst’s side would have ‘more money’ than their German counterparts.
They explain that Hamburg remain interested in the Leeds United youngster after their sports directors Jonas Boldt and Michael Mutzel tried to get him in the January transfer window.
That went all the way to deadline day when they suffered a ‘bitter damper’ when Leeds refused to let the Dutchman move.
They want to ‘make another attempt for him’ but now face competition from Ibrox, with recent reports indicating that Rangers are also keen on him.
And the problem for the German side is that Rangers would have ‘quite a different advantage’ in terms of convincing Summerville.
They already play in the top flight in their country, are fighting for first place and are also playing in the Europa League this season as well. Hamburg cannot offer any of those things.
As far as Frankfurter Rundschau are concerned, it is ‘clear’ that Van Bronckhorst and co ‘will have more money at its disposal’ to convince Leeds and put an end to HSV’s hopes of a deal.
Hamburg could generate money with their own sales, particularly if rumours around Josha Vagnoman were to turn into a transfer.
At this point, though, the feeling is that should Rangers compete to get Summerville from Leeds, then they are likely to win that battle.
