One of the reasons AS Roma agreed to loan Cengiz Ünder to Leicester City, other than hoping he would play regularly, was the agreement over the €25m option to buy.
In their head, the Turkey international would recapture his old form, impress all at the King Power Stadium, thus allowing the Serie A club to cash in quite nicely this summer.
What happened, however, was the complete opposite, with the winger struggling to break into Brendan Rodgers’ side as he featured for under 1000 minutes this season, spread over 19 appearances.
It was made clear a while back that Leicester would not be putting up the money for the 23-year-old, and that a return to AS Roma was on the cards.
Despite that, those in charge at Leicester said no, as they have ‘no intention of buying him’.
It couldn’t be clearer, could it?
