On Monday, it was said that Manchester United were keeping an eye on the latest Greek prodigy, Christos Tzolis.
The Red Devils were said to be among many interested in the PAOK Salonika winger, who has 15 goals and eight assists in 33 games this season, joined by the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Club Brugge.
However, it appears another Premier League club in Brighton & Hove Albion are also on the case, having already tried to make their move.
That’s according to Sportime, who also reported the Manchester United interest, as they claim the Seagulls tried to acquire the player, but were ‘not able to approach the financial requirements of PAOK’, with the issue ‘not moving on’.
That, though, is an ‘amount that PAOK will hardly give the green light’ to.
The previous report from Sportime suggested the Greek side were looking for around €20m in the summer, especially after the season Tzolis has been having, meaning that if Brighton do really only want to offer €8m, they may as well not bother.
It could be that the Seagulls enquired and told PAOK they would be willing to put €8m on the table for Tzolis in the upcoming transfer window, only to be kindly turned away, hence ‘not being able to approach the financial requirements’ and the issue ‘not moving on’.
