Liverpool’s negotiations for the signing of Marcelo Pitaluga are moving forward, according to reports from Brazil.
UOL reported at the weekend that the talks are ‘advancing’, and Fluminense should indeed sell the goalkeeper to the Premier League champions.
They say the Reds have been following the player for a while, always in touch with his agent Fábio Braga. They had previous offers turned down, but could succeed this time.
Liverpool recently made a bid for the 17-year-old, and the counter-offer from Fluminense ‘doesn’t seem to escape from the Reds’ financial capacity’.
UOL claims that this week should be decisive for the transfer to happen.
Liverpool’s idea is to loan him out to other English clubs until he gets ready to have a chance to feature for the Reds.
It’s said that the plan is to make Pitaluga a potential Alisson successor, and the youngster currently plays with the Liverpool goalkeeper’s brother, Muriel, at Fluminense.
The report also claims that Pitaluga’s family is keen on the move, even though they haven’t been pressing the club to accept the bid.
The fact that he has an EU passport also makes the transfer easier.
