On Friday, the Danish media went big on Nicklas Bendtner and Nottingham Forest. Both Ekstra Bladet and BT newspapers had Bendtner as their top story, one looking at how he ended up at Nottingham Forest, and the other looking at the current uncertain situation at the club.
Ekstra Bladet say they’ve found out from a source close to the player that the initial x-ray shows there was no break of the striker’s ankle. However, serious ligament damage cannot be ruled out and further tests are required to determine just how bad the situation is.
It’s pointed out that serious ligament damage would require roughly the same time out as a break, so the news that there’s been no fracture isn’t really something to celebrate.
The Danish newspaper say the situation is especially upsetting for Bendtner because against Birmingham City he was playing his best Nottingham Forest match so far.
Denmark’s BT have contacted Nottingham Forest, and got the following reply from the club’s press officer: ‘We do not know until at least Monday, I’m afraid. We do not know whether it is serious or not, we have to wait and see until he has been scanned tomorrow (Saturday). Then we will come to know how serious the problem is. We hope it is not too bad for him.’
