On Sunday, we covered an article in Corriere dello Sport speculating that Chelsea could offer €130m or so + a player to Lazio for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

That unlucky soul was rumoured to be Cesc Fabregas, and Monday’s edition of the same newspaper continues with that train of thought, although they seem a bit more sure about the whole thing, having had an extra 24 hours to look into the story.

While the Spaniard’s name has been confirmed, Lazio’s interest in his services has not, at least not yet, and he’d only be brought in to replace Milinkovic-Savic.

Before any of this takes off, Fabregas needs to find out if his new manager needs him next season, and should Maurizio Sarri decide to do without the 31-year-old, then we might have a story on our hands.

However, Corriere dello Sport do believe the former Arsenal star is preparing for the worst case scenario, and claim the midfielder has been ‘gathering information’ about the Serie A side.

We’ll have to wait and see, but with Darren Dein, Fabregas’ agent, on good terms with Lazio’s director of football, Igli Tare, this could have legs should Chelsea decide to offload their veteran(ish) playmaker.
