The last few updates regarding Aleksandr Golovin and Chelsea’s interest in the Russian midfielder weren’t all that positive, with Juventus in clear pole position, as the footballer was prioritising a move to the Serie A champions.

There were a few warnings in the Italian media that the Blues wouldn’t give up so easily, with Roman Abramovich potentially using his connections to have a ‘discreet influence’ on his compatriots.

Well, that appears to have happened, as Friday’s Gazzetta dello Sport believe Chelsea have returned ‘with force’ in the race to sign the 23-year-old.

Maurizio Sarri’s past interest in the Russia international has something to do with it, and there’s a worry Juventus might not be thrilled by the idea of getting into an ‘expensive arm wrestling match’ with the Blues over this.

As things stand, Juventus are said to have offered €23m for Golovin, but CSKA Moscow are waiting for at least €30m, knowing how well their star has played so far in the World Cup.

Relatively easy money for Chelsea.
