Wolves Fer López hasn’t been able to impress since arriving at Molineux from Celta Vigo last June. The attacking midfielder has one assist in 230 minutes from nine league matches.
The La Liga side have confirmed their desire to take him on loan in the winter market. Recent claims have covered Valencia’s interest in the Wolves man, but he wants to return to his old club.
On Wednesday, Faro de Vigo reported López’s agent Jorge Mendes had informed Rob Edwards’ side of his transfer desire. Celta Vigo have made two loan offers of six and 18 months.
A day later, the Spanish media stated Wolves have reached an agreement to let him join the Spanish club on loan until the end of this season. The two clubs have been sorting out the final details.
A fresh report from Faro de Vigo states the 21-year-old is in Galicia to complete his return.
He was an unused substitute in Wolves’ league defeat to Manchester City last Saturday. The Spanish club had ‘everything agreed’ for his arrival and were waiting for him to travel.
Wolves can now move on from mini-saga
López travelled from London and arrived at Santiago Airport at 10pm [local time] on Sunday. The report states he’ll undergo medical tests with Celta Vigo on Monday morning and then sign the loan contract.
The Spanish club face Crvena Zvezda in the Europa League on Thursday. López can’t take part as he isn’t registered for this competition, but he will be eligible to face Getafe at the weekend.
Celta Vigo manager Claudio Giráldez has identified the Wolves man as his priority target for January. After his side’s 3-1 defeat to Real Sociedad on Saturday, he talked about López and Marca have relayed his comments.
“Fer gives me peace of mind because he’s easy to adapt to. He plays as a central midfielder, an attacking midfielder, a winger, and he has the ability to play high, low, build attacks, and finish. He offers many of the profiles we might need in this market,” he said.
