Fer López has struggled at Wolverhampton Wanderers since arriving at Molineux from Celta Vigo in June. He’s played 230 minutes from nine league matches, contributing one assist.
The La Liga side have publicly talked about their desire to sign the attacking midfielder in the winter market.
On Wednesday, Faro de Vigo said López’s agent Jorge Mendes has informed Rob Edwards’ side he only wants to return to his old club. They also made two loan offers, one for six months and another for 18 months.
Estadio Deportivo then reported Valencia manager Carlos Corberán has personally called the 21-year-old to try and talk him into joining him at the Mestalla.
Celta Vigo face Lille in the Europa League later today. In the pre-match press conference on Wednesday, their manager, Claudio Giráldez, confirmed their interest in the Wolves man. Estadio Deportivo have relayed his comments.
“Fer López is useful for many things. Yes, he’s an option. As I said, he’s an option. He’s a player we know, he’s a player who adapts easily here, and he’s one of the possibilities, yes,” he said.
El Desmarque claim the Spain U21 international has already given his approval for his return.
They now report the La Liga side are ‘very close’ to finalising an agreement with Wolves. The ‘last few hours’ have been decisive to bring the two clubs closer, allowing Celta Vigo to take definitive step to seal this operation.
Wolves finishing touches on transfer
According to El Desmarque, the Wolves player should return in the next few days. If there are no setbacks, he should be training with Celta Vigo before their trip Serbia to face Red Star Belgrade next Thursday.
Faro de Vigo now report López is ‘one step away’ from Celta Vigo. The Spanish club and Wolves are finalising the loan agreement until the end of this season. The English club didn’t accept the 18-month loan offer.
The two clubs are ‘putting the finishing touches’ on the transfer so that the youngster can rejoin his old club.
Despite interest from other clubs, López only wanted to join Celta Vigo. Mendes has been in full support of his client, resulting in Wolves opening the exit door. His arrival will be made official in the next few days.
Farp de Vigo state: ‘It will be made official in a few days and at that time the footballer will travel to Vigo’
It’s worth noting that the Vigo media have been overly confident about this transfer being agreed on multiple occasions. They’ve then been left disappointed, this time it could be the opposite.
