Wolves remain among the clubs keeping tabs on Fluminense striker John Kennedy. However, the Brazilian side are in no rush to part with one of their most important players.
The 24-year-old has emerged as a transfer target after an impressive campaign in Brazil. RTI Esporte report that Wolves continue to monitor his situation. They do so alongside Udinese and Shakhtar Donetsk. Watford has not been mentioned this time, despite being linked earlier.
John Kennedy has already been linked with a move to England this summer. The latest report suggests interest remains alive as European clubs assess their options ahead of the transfer window.
Fluminense standing firm
Fluminense are understood to have little interest in forcing a sale.
According to the report, the Brazilian club view John Kennedy as one of the most important players in manager Luís Zubeldía’s squad. They also believe his value could continue to rise over the coming months.
The striker is under contract until December 2027, putting Fluminense in a strong negotiating position. His release clause for international clubs is set at €70m (£59.5m). This figure is designed to protect the club against losing him on unfavourable terms.
Previous reports in Brazil have suggested Fluminense could consider a sale for a much lower fee if a suitable offer arrives, but the latest claims indicate they are determined to maximise any future deal.
What may encourage Wolves is the relationship built between the clubs in recent years.
RTI Esporte point to the good connections established during negotiations involving André Trindade and Jhon Arias. However, there is currently no indication that talks have progressed beyond monitoring and enquiries.
Career back on track
John Kennedy’s current form explains why interest is beginning to grow. The striker has scored 14 goals and provided two assists in 35 appearances in 2026. This makes it the most productive season of his professional career so far.
While primarily used as a centre-forward, he offers more than a traditional penalty-box presence. John Kennedy is known for his movement into attacking areas from deeper positions. He is also known for his ability to arrive late in the box. These traits have become increasingly important in Fluminense’s attack.
John Kennedy’s career has not always followed a straightforward path. After becoming a hero at Fluminense by scoring the winning goal in the 2023 Copa Libertadores final against Boca Juniors, he endured a more inconsistent period. He also spent time with Pachuca in Mexico during 2025.
This season, however, has seen him firmly re-establish himself as one of Fluminense’s key players.
With Wolves continuing to monitor developments and Fluminense determined to protect one of their most valuable assets, the striker’s future could become one to watch as the summer window progresses.
