Nottingham Forest had a scout in attendance at Porto this week as they lost 1-0 to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

A Bola report that Nottingham Forest were one of several sides to send scouts to the Champions League clash. Everton were also in attendance for the game.

It’s not the first time that Nottingham Forest have sent scouts to Porto either. Sport Witness records show that back in September they were one of several sides watching the Portuguese side take on Manchester City. They were one of 18 club at the game at the time.

At the time we suggested that they may be looking at the likes of Jakub Kiwior, Nehuén Pérez and Martim Fernandes.

Porto struggles

A Bola shares the list of club attending in their Wednesday edition, and makes no mention of who they may have been in attendance to watch this time around. But there were a few outstanding performers in the game.

Porto’s best player, according to WhoScored, was Alberto Costa. He was handed a 7.00 rating in the game.

Given the money spent on Daniel Munoz in the summer, a right-back seems an unlikely target, though. Kiwior, by the way, was third on the list for Porto with a 6.51 rating.

Diogo Costa, Gabri Veiga and Jan Bednarek were the others to make it into the top five.

PSV impress

The more interesting performances came from PSV Eindhoven. They had six players handed a score of 7.00 or above by WhoScored’s ratings system.

Sven Mijnans was the top performer with a 7.64 rating, closely followed by Sergino Dest on 7.60. He also scored the only goal of the game.

It’s hard to see either of those being targets given Nottingham Forest have plenty of options in their positions, although Dest would fit in very well in Oliver Glasner’s system.

Esmir Bajraktarevic was A Bola’s top player with an 8/10. The 21-year-old was third on WhoScored’s ratings with a 7.48 rating.

Defender Yarek Gasiorowski was in fourth on 7.42. Striker Guus Till, who bagged the only goal of the game, rounded out the top five with a 7.3 rating.

Whether any of those names are of interest to Forest, remains to be seen. Given they spent big on full-backs, centre-backs and strikers in the summer, it’s hard to imagine that they are.

Still, they were the names that stood out in the game as a Nottingham Forest scout watched on in Porto once again.
