AS Roma are back in the mix to sign West Ham‘s Crysencio Summerville and have now formally spoken to his entourage.
The Serie A club have missed out on Mason Greenwood. This has led to them exploring other targets and on Tuesday, Sport Witness covered their attempts to re-join the race for Summerville.
The player’s entourage was in Rome yesterday, having worked on Lazio’s move for Danilho Doekhi, who they also represent. The Giallorossi have now taken advantage of this, making in-roads over a possible deal for the West Ham star.
Agents getting desperate
Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport reports that some weeks ago, Summerville’s wage demands stalled a move to Roma. He hoped to earn €6m per season, after tax, but no English club has offered to pay that amount.
His have admitted defeat in the attempt to find a club who can pay that salary. This has led to them contacting Roma again.
They have been in the Italian capital for two days because of the Doekhi deal. Summerville’s agents spoke to Roma sporting director Tony D’Amico and several intermediaries yesterday, leading to the Giallorossi presenting an offer.
They put forward a €4.5m wage packet to Summerville and €40m plus bonuses to West Ham. A response to this is expected shortly, with club owner Ryan Friedkin now in Rome. This can play a key role in Roma pushing forward with an attacking signing soon.
Hammers’ intentions important
Roma are keen for attacking signings and Summerville’s entourage is keen on finding a new club. The meeting is probably an attempt to remain updated on the situation, especially as West Ham are yet to enter the matter.
Everything could hinge on them and their demands. The Hammers know English clubs could yet offer a higher fee than Roma, with Manchester United reportedly interested. That will raise Summerville’s value automatically and help the London club.
So waiting for a few weeks makes a lot of sense for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
