Elche CF are considering signing West Ham United‘s Adama Traoré this summer.

The winger joined West Ham from Fulham in January, and the move saw him reunite with his former manager, Nuno Espírito Santo.

Traoré excelled under Nuno at Wolves and there was expectation for him to do similar at West Ham.

However, the Spaniard wasn’t able to help the Hammers, who were already struggling. He failed to score or assist in 115 minutes from nine Premier League matches.

The Hammers will drop to the Championship and are likely to see some of their players move elsewhere this summer.

Spain option for West Ham man

The former Barcelona man has an opportunity to return to La Liga, to join Elche CF, who narrowly avoided relegation on the last day.

That’s according to Friday’s edition of Sport, who explain why the Spanish club want to sign Adama Traoré.

Eder Sarabia has stepped down as their manager and Elche have to appoint his successor first before improving their squad.

The club have to make important decision this summer as there’s need to strengthen almost every position.

For the attack, Espanyol’s Marcos Fernández remains an option but ‘one name stands out even more: Adama Traoré’. In other words, he’s the main target for the attack.

His ability to unbalance opposition defence with his pace and physique are among the reasons why Elche have shown interest.

The West Ham United man has to take a significant pay cut if he were to join the Spanish club. There’s no mention of his current wages or the salary that Elche can afford.

Apart from the sporting factors, Sport insist signing Traoré would give the club a ‘major boost’ in terms of media exposure.

Hammers player won’t be short of options

Adama Traoré’s contract expires at the end of this month and there’s been no talks of a renewal.

Barring any new development, he will leave as a free agent. This would make him more attractive in the market and the attacker shouldn’t be short of options to decide his next destination.

Transfermarkt value the West Ham man at €6m.
