Jhon Durán ended his two-year spell at Aston Villa when he joined Al-Nassr in January.
Prior to his move to Saudi Arabia, Paris Saint-Germain had shown interest in the striker.
Journalist Romain Molina has now explained Duran came close to joining PSG from Aston Villa. He explained this on YouTube channel Colinterview, and Le10 Sport have relayed his comments.
PSG advisor Luís Campos was leading the pursuit to bring the 21-year-old to Paris. He was willing to let Randal Kolo Muani move in the opposite direction. The journalist explained the 26-year-old France international snubbed Aston Villa.
According to Molina, the Ligue 1 winners have avoided problems by missing out on the Colombia international. He used Unai Emery’s handling of Duran as an example of a bullet dodged.
Aston Villa identified problem player
The South American played 2,275 minutes from 78 matches for the Villans, managing 20 goals and an assist. Emery mainly utilised him as a substitute during his time at Aston Villa.
“He was overheating. Unai Emery, who knows football, why didn’t he start him? Why did Villa sell him as soon as there was an offer? They could smell the trouble coming, guys. Duran is an unmanageable guy. Yamal’s father is light compared to Duran’s entourage,“ Molina explained.
Duran scored 12 goals from 18 matches for Al-Nassr, who loaned him to Fenerbahçe in July. He suffered an injury in August and has been on the sidelines since then.
