Tottenham Hotspur are sending Yang Min-hyeok out on loan again, with the winger now set to join KVC Westerlo for the season.

Sacha Tavolieri reports the Belgian club have reached a full agreement with Spurs for the South Korean. Yang has already undergone his medical tests this morning.

That leaves the deal looking very close to completion, and also gives us a pretty clear indication of Roberto De Zerbi’s plans for the 20-year-old.

Yang was given opportunities at the beginning of Tottenham’s pre-season. He featured in two of their first five friendlies, but hasn’t been used since.

Another loan for Yang

Yang Min-hyeok arrived at Tottenham from Gangwon FC with plenty of expectation around him, but his development has largely taken place away from Spurs so far.

He spent time at Queens Park Rangers in 2025, making 14 appearances. The winger scored twice and provided one assist during that spell.

Last season brought another couple of temporary moves. Yang played for Coventry City and Portsmouth, making 20 appearances across the two loans. He finished with three goals and one assist.

Tottenham then brought him back into their pre-season group this summer. De Zerbi gave him minutes in the first two friendlies, so there was at least an opportunity to make an impression.

His disappearance from the team after that was perhaps telling.

Spurs appear to have made their decision

Yang Min-hyeok hasn’t featured in any of Tottenham’s last three pre-season matches.

We obviously can’t know exactly when De Zerbi made his assessment. However, the sequence of events suggests Spurs quickly decided another loan would be better for the youngster.

The move to Westerlo should give Yang another chance to play regularly and continue adapting to European football.

His previous loans have all been in the Championship. Belgium represents a different route, and perhaps one where Tottenham believe he can get more consistent minutes.

With Tavolieri saying the medical has already taken place and a full agreement is in place, there doesn’t appear to be much left to sort out.

For Spurs, the decision also clears up Yang’s immediate future. He was given his chance to work under De Zerbi this summer, but another season of development elsewhere now awaits.
