Two days ago, we covered claims from France that Sunderland have agreed a €35m deal including bonuses with RC Strasbourg for Habib Diarra.
Later that day, L’Equipe stated the Senegal international has successfully completed medical tests with the Black Cats. They also said he’s set to sign a five-year contract at the Stadium of Light.
L’Equipe’s claim is backed up by Senegal’s D Sports, who provide a few more details. They state the midfielder carried out medical tests in Paris at the weekend ‘without any hitch’.
He signed the five-year contract with Sunderland immediately after completing the medical examination.
According to the report, the 21-year-old earns €110,000 per month with the Ligue 1 club. Régis Le Bris’ side, who have secured promotion to the Premier League, will triple his salary to €330,000 per month.
Diarra’s impressive performances for Strasbourg last season attracted interest from other clubs.
The Premier League newcomers have not hesitated to invest big to secure his services. D Sports state Sunderland will make his arrival official in the ‘next few hours’.
D Sports have posted a picture of Diarra undergoing tests, without specifying whether it’s from the Sunderland medical.
