Southampton have received encouragement to sign Sint-Truidense VV’s Louis Patris this summer.
TSG Hoffenheim have shown interest in the right-back and had made an approach to sign him. However, the German club have now decided to shift their focus elsewhere.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, and he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to cover the latest on Southampton.
Hoffenheim’s decision leaves the Saint sand Sassuolo as the ‘most concrete options’ for the 24-year-old. The Jupiler Pro League side initially signed the defender on loan from Anderlecht in September 2024 and made his stay permanent earlier this year.
Patris has a contract until 2029 and Transfermarket currently values him at €2m. Sint-Truidense are believed to be open to selling him in this window as Tavolieri reports they are demanding around €3.5m.
The journalist adds the Belgian club’s demand complicates negotiations, without making it clear if it’s for both Southampton and Sassuolo.
The fee may be affordable for the Championship club, who can secure his services for €3.5m. Whether Will Still’s side will make an offer to sign Patris remains to be seen.
