According to a claim in the Turkish media, Southampton are showing interest in Colo- Colo forward Lucas Cepeda.

The 23-year-old winger has impressed for the Chile national team ever since he replaced Saints owned attacker Ben Brereton last October, which has brought him to the attention of European clubs.

Fotospor have reported on Southampton’s links with Cepeda, and they say the English club are giving consideration to signing the player this summer.

However, the plan will be to loan him to Goztepe for a season so that the youngster can gain more experience. The Izmir side look set to lose star forward Romulo this summer and it’s likely they will need to strengthen in attack ahead of next season.

Southampton and Goztepe are both owned by Sport Republic and this has seen Saints players being loaned or transferred to the Turkish club in recent windows.

The plan would then be for Southampton to get promotion back to the Premier League and recall the attacker next summer.

Since signing for Colo-Colo in 2024 he’s scored nine goals in 37 games. He’s contracted to the Chilean side until June 2026
