Arsenal are set to complete a deal for Kolkheti Poti midfielder Andria Bartishvili, with an agreement now in place for the 17-year-old.
Geo Team on X report that the deal for the Georgia is now complete. Their information is that the 17-year-old midfielder is set to fly to London on September 1st for a medical. There is a five-year deal for the Georgian waiting at the Emirates.
Arsenal will pay €4.5m to sign the youngster and have reportedly beaten Liverpool in the race for his signature.
Arsenal beat Liverpool
Sport Witness have already covered Arsenal’s interest in the youngster earlier this. A report two months ago played down talk of an agreement with the Gunners.
Indeed, it insisted that the player was handling identical offers from both Arsenal and Liverpool. At that point he was clearly deciding which one to accept. Now it appears that decision has been made.
He is set to travel to Arsenal on September 1st for a medical, after agreeing a four-year deal and a transfer worth €4.5m. When he actually moves to London, remains to be seen.
Long-term plan?
The youngster is currently on loan at Iberia 1999. He joined them at the beginning of the year and that loan runs until end of December.
The likelihood is that Arsenal leave him there and then look to bring him to England next summer, once he has turned 18. That won’t happen until March next year. But they will have, at least, lined up the deal long before then.
What happens after that, remains to be seen. The Emirates is certainly a good place for youngsters at this moment in time. Mikel Arteta has shown zero fear or concern in giving youngsters a chance if he thinks they are good enough. The likes of Max Dowman are proof of that.
