Nottingham Forest are the only club to have made concrete advances to sign Feyenoord’s Givairo Read this summer.
The right-back’s development at the Dutch club clearly didn’t go unnoticed and caught Manchester City and Bayern Munich attention.
Two months ago, Sport Witness relayed news that Manchester City were ahead of Bayern Munich in the transfer race. Since then, neither took steps to sign him, allowing Nottingham Forest to make an approach.
On July 9th, we relayed news of the City Ground club making an offer for the 20-year-old, but Feyenoord turned it down.
The Dutch media were confident of the Premier League side returning with an improved bid. A fee around €25m would be enough to convince the Eredivisie side to sell Givairo Read.
New attempt from Nottingham Forest
FR12.nl, who first reported of the Reds’ initial bid, have now come up with a fresh update.
Oliver Glasner’s side are refusing to give up, and the last rejection hasn’t put them off.
Nottingham Forest have again contacted Feyenoord, who rejected their opening offer of around €17.5m plus bonuses.
The outlet states the English club have returned with an improved offer.
Nottingham Forest awaiting response
The Premier League side have ‘resumed negotiations’ with Feyenoord for the Netherlands U21 international.
However, the Dutch club are yet to respond to the latest bid. Should they reject the new proposal, it’ll be interesting to see whether Oliver Glasner’s side will then submit another offer.
If Nottingham Forest’s offer is close to €25m, there’s a possibility of getting this deal over the line.
A year ago, Givairo Read signed a new contract until 2029, and Transfermarkt value him at €25m. This is the highest value of his career.
