Several clubs have been in the hunt for Club Brugge talent Nicolo Tresoldi but Manchester City and Chelsea are amongst the most prominent candidates to land him.
The striker has found the net 14 times in 16 games in all competitions this season. The highlight came against Inter Milan, as he notched up a historic hat-trick in the Champions League, helping his side to a 4-3 win.
Sport Witness have tracked growing interest in the 23-year-old, with Arsenal and Tottenham already in the chase for his signature.
It is Manchester City and Chelsea who are firmly in the picture now.
International auction underway
Tuttomercatoweb provide details about the Cagliari-born striker’s situation. They describe Tresoldi as Milan’s transfer dream but there is awareness that the Rossoneri will battle major competition to sign him.
The report reveals that Chelsea and Manchester City have ‘sent scouts’ to watch Tresoldi several times already.
Juventus are also in the race, but Milan want to bank on the idea that the player is an avid Rossoneri supporter. While this will come in handy, the San Siro club know that there will be an ‘international auction’ for him soon.
Club Brugge are against the idea of a January sale, for now. Their valuation in the recent past stood at between €25m and €30m but that is described as ‘outdated’. His price is now at least €50m, which can grow further in the next few weeks.
Milan expect several multi-million offers for Tresoldi and fear that convincing the player can become difficult, if he is offered rich projects by other clubs.
Our take: English clubs could have an advantage
Tresoldi now has a proven track record at the highest level and a big move is on the horizon.
Because of their financial abilities, English clubs should have an advantage in the race. Manchester City and Chelsea are clearly fans of the player and won’t have problems affording the figures mentioned.
For now, they don’t exactly need a striker. Erling Haaland continues to thrive and Joao Pedro has been a standout this season. So landing another striker who will demand the starting spot won’t make sense, unless something dramatic happens.
