Portuguese side Maritimo have announced that manager Vitor Matos is joining Swansea City as their new manager. And he’s not the only one making the move.

A Bola cover the situation across two separate articles today. the first reports that Matos’ move to Swansea has now been made official.

The Welsh side have paid a €1m termination clause to get the 37-year-old. Maritimo reported that there was ‘nothing that they could do’ to stop the move. They’d released a statement earlier this week making it clear Matos would be going nowhere without the full €1m, after Swansea City tried to negotiate.

They are already on the hunt for his replacement.

An official statement on Friday evening thanked Matos for his work at the club and wished him the best at his new club.

A separate report from A Bola then details the staff that Matos is taking with him. They explain that Matos is expected to watch Swansea’s trip to Bristol City today.

He will then lead training on Sunday. And he’ll be joined by his deputies Diogo Medeiros, Tozé Mendes and Gonçalo Ricca. Physical trainer Bernardo Ramos and goalkeeper coach Fernando Monteiro are staying at Maritimo for now. But it has not been ruled out that they will also move to Swansea in future.
