Celtic and Rangers tried to sign Frosinone’s Fares Ghedjemis in the summer. A deal never materialised and the clubs have been given fresh conditions for a transfer.

The winger had been subject of interest from several clubs. Rangers and Celtic were among them, as Sport Witness covered how bids were made for the Algerian attacker.

Frosinone rejected these bids, even if the player appeared keen on an exit. This saw the Italian club excluded him from the squad for several games in the campaign.

Now, Ghedjemis has signed a new deal and fresh conditions for his transfer have become clear.

Club eyeing future transfer

Celtic and Rangers target Fares Ghedjemis

Tuttomercatoweb note that that the winger has been one of the best players this season. He has improved in recent weeks, which has allowed Frosinone to stay within the European qualification spots.

At the same time, the Crociati know that they won’t hold onto Frosinone forever. Monaco – like Celtic and Rangers, had made an approach for Ghedjemis. A deal didn’t go through, even if the Ligue 1 club had the financial reserves to sign him.

Frosinone want at least €25m to sell the player. His value has grown since the summer, with the player only keen on moving to a club that plays in Europe.

Ghedjemis, for now, is keen on staying in Italy. But he will consider offers from abroad and it will all come down to what his club wants and if their valuation is met.

Our take: Scottish clubs have a huge task

Several Frosinone players are being linked with moves away. Ghedjemis’ stock is probably highest, considering how things were in the summer.

And he could yet improve, which will come as bad news for Celtic and Rangers. While they will play in Europe, they are likely to face troubles from a financial perspective.

This will be especially true if English clubs come calling, which Frosinone would love next summer. It will hand them a huge capital gain.
